Since entering the ‘working world’ at 15 years old as a restaurant dishwasher, my career has followed two paths - working in the restaurant industry and the online learning industry.
For the last 20 years, I’ve worked with Fortune 500 clients to define and implement custom eLearning solutions.
With Restaurant Playbooks, my two career paths have converged. I have bootstrapped Restaurant Playbooks and formed a virtual team of passionate pro's with proven expertise in the restaurant industry, and organizational Learning & Development. My vision is to help operators gain a competitive edge by implementing effective online performance improvement and management solutions. The approach is to leverage the lessons learned and best practices utilized by high performing organizations. Advances in mobile devices, video, and LMS/platform technology make this possible at a fraction of the time and cost investments previously required.
Our mission is to:
- Provide employee performance improvement and management tools that are time and cost effective to implement.
- Support the execution of effective online solutions that have a quantifiable positive impact on your business.
- Create learning experiences that digital natives will want to engage with… as opposed to the boring ‘page turner’ courses or passive talking head videos that are widely available.
Executing this mission is a tall order. The best path to success is an iterative process where training data combined with a continuous feedback loop (by operators) guide ongoing improvements.
We look forward to serving you!
In the U.K. back in the day, Caterer & Hotelkeeper was the go-to weekly magazine for restaurateurs and hoteliers. Up until the early 1990s in the U.K. most establishments (Pubs, Restaurants, and Hotels) were independently owned and operated. The explosion of themed concepts and chains coincided with the emergence of celebrity TV chefs.
Times have changed, but many of the tenets of great hospitality and guest service are timeless, and much of the info in these 20+-year-old articles are still relevant today.

Developed in 1997, this computer-based training program used ‘the Restaurant Business is Show Business’ metaphors to teach waitstaff how to exceed guest expectations and increase sales.
